News has broken that Eva Ibbotson passed away yesterday - at the great age of 85.

Born in Vienna, Ibbotson moved to England when she was 8 - but it wasn’t until she turned 50 that Ibbotson saw her first book,  Great Ghost Rescue, published. Since then Ibbotson has written more than twenty books and countless award shortlistings (including the Carnegie Medal, British Library Association, Smarties Prize, Whitbread Children’s Book of the Year award and was listed on this years Guardian Children’s Fiction Award.

Michelle Pauli interviewed Ibbotson earlier this month - with some fascinating reveals about how her work came about.
