Ken Robinson talks education, creativity, adaptability and more

In 2008 Ken Robinson’s gave an RSA talk, Changing Education Paradigms, detailing the problems in school systems and the need to switch models. It was watched by millions.

Five years later Robinson is back at the RSA - addressing the fundamental economic, cultural, social and personal purposes of education, and to argue that education should be personalised to every student’s talent, passion, and learning styles, and that creativity should be embedded in the culture of every single school.

Go, go now. And start planning and get involved.

Check out Robinson’s 2008 video:

Everything you need to know is in the title - but just in case there’s any confusion - You need to read Claudia Gabel and Cheryl Klam’s ELUSION.

Forget Eternal Sunshine, forget Feed. (Okay don’t forget them, BOTH are amazing) But get in now and don’t say I didn’t warn you.

And while I’m flagging months in advance… get ready for Magisterium: The Iron Trial (Cassie Clare and Holly Black)

Black Ice (Becca Fitzpatrick)

Alienated (Melissa Landers)

The Young Elites (Marie Lu)

White Space (Ilsa J Bick)

The Princess in Black (Shannon and Dead Hale) and some guy called John Green‘s new book too.

I can’t tell you how much I love Kate DiCamillo and her work (The Tale of Despereaux, Bink & Gollie) - she’s even won an award or three (Newbery Medal-winner!)

And Flora & Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures does not disappoint!

I set out to tell the story of a vacuum cleaner and a squirrel. I ended up writing a book about superheroes, cynics, poetry, love, giant donuts, little shepherdess lamps, and how we are all working to find our way home. Seal blubber!

EW have an exclusive on the book trailer - go on - go check it out!

Just about giving you a glimpse of the story - the beautiful and passionate (thanks to the accompany Dirty Paws by Monster of Men track) gives little away but highlights one of the surprise movies of the year.

Artemis Fowl: The Movie is coming!

Artemis Fowl: The Movie is coming!

After years of questions - false hopes and rumours about what was happening - there is some real news about the Artemis Fowl film adaptation.

Producer Harvey Weinstein and Disney  are coming together to work up a live-action film version of the bestselling series - using the story from the first two books in the series. And it gets better…

The script is being written by Michael Goldenberg, (of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix fame) and Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal are both named as executive producers.

I feel as though everything is coming full circle considering Bob De Niro and Jane Rosenthal brought me this book while I was still at Miramax and within hours I told them I wanted the rights to the film. This is a special project for me because my children absolutely love this book. This story is for everyone and there is no one better than Disney to make a film that will excite people young and old. (Harvey Weinstein, quoted in Disney PR)

It’s still early days… BUT Artemis hitting screens is looking better than ever!

Some great suggestions from twitter when it comes to casting… Jason Statham as Butler, Saoirse Ronan as Opal and maybe Jack Gleeson as Artemis Himself.  Or Robert Sheehan?
